Announcements

- Our UTC Library colleague Rachel Fleming is hosting a series of virtual workshops related to data management and scholarly IDs. Early career faculty and faculty who are new to federal grant proposals are especially encouraged to attend. RSVP through the Library’s events page or contact Rachel for more info.
Writing and Implementing Data Management Plans

Data management plans are a research best practice, and are now required by most federal funders. Join us to learn more about what a Data Management Plan is, how a DMP can help your grant application and your research, and how to create a great DMP.
Managing Your Scholarly Identity

This workshop will provide an overview of scholarly identity management tools including ORCiD and SciENcv. Learn how to update, manage, and enhance your information to create a comprehensive, publicly available curriculum vitae. Learn how to use SciENcv to create documents required for grant applications and how to export ORCiD data to your Digital Measures profile.
Limited Submission Competitions
The following programs have a limited submission requirement. If you are interested in the program, you must submit by the internal deadline to be eligible to for selection.

NSF Research Traineeship Program | September 16, 2024 | Notices of Interest are requested to determine if an internal competition is needed. An individual may serve as PI or Co-PI on only 1 proposal, if selected. UTC is eligible to submit to Track 2. |

NSF Research Experiences for Teachers in Engineering and Computer Science | October 9, 2024 | An individual can participate in no more than 1 RET Site proposal as PI/Co-PI per year. Additional PI eligibility restrictions apply. |
NSF Mathematical Foundations of Artificial Intelligence (MFAI) | October 10, 2024 | An individual can participate in no more than 1 proposal as PI/Co-PI per year. Additional requirements for project personnel apply. |
NIH R15 Research Enhancement Awards | October 25, 2024 | The PI cannot have an active NIH research award. Additional deadlines February 15 and June 25. |
NSF International Research Experiences for Students (IRES) | October 28, 2024 | Individuals may participate as PI or co-PI on no more than ONE (1) proposal per competition. All PIs, Co-PIs and Senior Personnel on IRES proposals must be from U.S. based organizations. Foreign collaborators cannot be listed as PIs, Co-PIs or Senior Personnel. |
NSF Division of Physics: Investigator-Initiated Research Projects (PHY) | November 18 – December 3, 2024 | Deadline varies by research area. No personnel restrictions. |
NSF Launching Early-Career Academic Pathways in the Mathematical and Physical Sciences (LEAPS-MPS) | January 23, 2025 | Limited to Assistant Professors who have not previously served as PI or Co-PI on an NSF research grant. |
Sponsored Projects Policy Spotlight: Participation in Foreign Talent Recruitment Programs
UT Policy RE0003 applies to any individual who contributes in a substantive, meaningful way to a research or development project (e.g., a senior or other key personnel). Covered individuals must adhere to the following UT procedures:
- Disclose participation in any Foreign Talent Recruitment Program to the University as an outside interest in accordance with GE-0002 (Conflict of Interest & Commitment) within 30 days of the participation.
- Disclose participation in any Foreign Talent Recruitment Program to federal agencies through CPS documentation at the time of proposal submission.
- Certify that they are not party to a Malign Foreign Talent Recruitment Program, as defined in this policy, at the time of proposal submission. Individuals who are party to such a program are not eligible to serve as key personnel on a federally sponsored program.
- Participate in training related to participation in foreign talent recruitment programs.
