Announcements
- Please join me in welcoming ORSP’s newest staff members! Jennifer Corbin and Caleh Kizer have joined the Pre-Award team as Grants Specialists, effective September 9. Jennifer comes to us from Clemson University, where she served as a Project Manager for two USDA-funded projects, and Caleh joins us from a DOE Atmospheric Radiation Measurement observatory, where she served as the Site Operations Manager. Both bring a wealth of project management experience to the job, and we’re beyond thrilled to have them on board. Welcome, Caleh and Jennifer!
- The Tennessee APEX Accelerator, managed by the UT Center for Industrial Services, is hosting a virtual event on September 16 to share how the Department of Defense (DoD) and other agencies fund science & technology, the basics of Technology Transfer for University faculty, and how small businesses can successfully collaborate with university faculty. This event will leverage fall DoD SBIR/STTR solicitation topics to bring participants together to initiate discussions. - The NSF Directorate for Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships (TIP) will discuss new programs, awards, and funding opportunities during the upcoming TIP Updates webinar on September 18. Learn more and register to attend here.
- The US Department of Health and Human Services will livestream an exploratory workshop entitled “The Evolving Landscape of Human Research with AI – Putting Ethics to Practice” on September 19. Review the agenda and access the livestream here.
- NSF is soliciting emerging topic area ideas for the Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation (EFRI) Program through October 15. Learn more about the purpose of EFRI and how to submit ideas here.
Limited Submission Competitions
The following programs have a limited submission requirement. If you are interested in the program, you must submit a notice of intent by the internal deadline to be eligible to participate in an internal selection competition if one is held.

If you are interested in applying to any of the opportunities below, please notify ORSP at least 4-6 weeks in advance of the deadline. Proposals with fewer than 5 business days notice may face barriers to submission. More information about ORSP’s proposal development timeline and services is available here.

| NSF Advancing Informal STEM Learning (AISL) | January 8, 2025 | There are no eligibility restrictions. The program does not support projects focused on formal educational settings/outcomes or programming without an integrated research component. |
| NSF Ethical and Responsible Research (ER2) | January 23, 2025 | An individual may participate in any key personnel role on only two proposals per year. |
| Dear Colleague Letter: Neurobiology in Changing Ecosystems (NiCE) | February 10, 2025 | Must be submitted to an IOS Core Program, following consultation with an IOS program director. |
| NIH NLM Grants for Scholarly Works in Biomedicine and Health (G13) | February 25, 2025 | Review the solicitation for a list of excluded projects/deliverables. |
