Announcements
- For those who submit proposals to NSF, please note that Friday, October 20, 2023 is the last day you can submit a proposal using the fillable PDF format for the biosketch and CPS forms. Any proposals submitted after that date must use SciENcv to prepare both forms. This deadline may also impact submissions to other federal agencies, such as DOE, who utilize NSF templates. As the forms take some time to complete, ORSP strongly encourages you to become familiar with SciENcv and prepare both forms in that system now. Help guides are on ORSP’s webpage here. You can also schedule a walkthrough and/or development support with a Pre-Award Team member here.
- With federal agencies now requiring data collected during sponsored projects to be publicly available, it can be difficult to know where, when, and how to manage and disseminate your data. See this Nature-published article for tips on effectively sharing your data.
Funding Opportunities
Please let ORSP know by August 1 if you are interested in applying to one or more of the programs below.
- NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates – NSF has released an updated solicitation for the annual REU Sites program. The overall requirements of the program remain the same, with minor updates to the student stipend amount and faculty mentor documentation. Full proposals are due to NSF by September 27, 2023.
- National Institutes of Health R15 AREA and REAP programs – Faculty whose biomedical research aligns with the priorities of participating Institutes are eligible to apply. The full NOFO for both programs is available here. The next deadline is October 25 at 5pm. Additional R15 deadlines are February 25 and June 25, 2024.
- NSF Dear Colleague Letter: Tool Development for Molecular and Cell Biology (Tools4Cells) – NSF has released a DCL soliciting proposals to develop interdisciplinary tools and methods to advance the molecular and cell biology fields. Proposals should be submitted to one of the MCB core programs or the Infrastructure Innovation for Biological Research program. There is no deadline for submission.
Sponsored Projects Policy Spotlight: Visitors Engaged in Research
UT Policy RE0002 outlines the policy and procedures on visitors engaging in research on UT campuses. The policy applies equally to sponsored and non-sponsored projects and requires a visitor information packet to be submitted at least 30 days prior to arriving on campus. A decision tree for determining whether the policy applies to your situation is available on ORI’s webpage here.
