Limited Submission Competitions
The following programs have a limited submission requirement. If you are interested in the program, you must submit a notice of intent by the internal deadline to be eligible to participate in an internal selection competition if one is held.
Sponsor/Program | Internal Deadline | Limitations or Special Considerations |
NEH Summer Stipends Notice of Intent | July 17, 2024 | UTC may only nominate 2 tenure-track faculty to submit a proposal to NEH in September. ORSP is accepting Notices of Intent to determine if an internal selection competition is necessary. Interested tenure-track faculty are required to participate in the internal selection and nomination process. Non-tenure-track or non-teaching staff members are eligible to apply to this program without participating in the nomination process. |
Other Funding Opportunities
If you are interested in applying to any of the opportunities below, please notify ORSP at least 4-6 weeks in advance of the deadline. Proposals with fewer than 5 business days notice may face barriers to submission. More information about ORSP’s proposal development timeline and services is available here.

Sponsored Projects Policy Spotlight: Overlap on Current and Pending Support Forms
The federal templates for current and pending support forms require PIs to describe any known or potential overlap with the proposed project for each current or pending project listed in the form. This applies at both the proposal and reporting stages. NIH has provided a handy breakdown here of the three types of overlap you should report: scientific overlap, budgetary overlap, and commitment overlap. While the discussion is focused on NIH, the guidance can be generally applied to other federal sponsors. For NSF specific guidance, see the personnel document webpage here.
