Announcements
- The DOE BES Early Career Network is hosting a free webinar entitled Scientific Communication and Storytelling on Tuesday, August 27 at 12pm Eastern. Early career faculty and postdocs are encouraged to attend. Learn more about the speakers and register to attend here.
- The UTC Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is hosting a virtual workshop for researchers entitled Understanding Intellectual Property: Strategies for Innovation and Protection. Key speakers include Gregory Sechrist, UT Research Foundation (UTRF) Associate Technology Manager, and Angie Morelock, Director of Award Services in ORSP. New faculty and individuals looking for a refresher on IP concepts are encouraged to attend. The virtual workshop will be held on Friday, September 13 at 2pm. - NSF is hosting a series of virtual workshops entitled Exploring the Ethics and Societal Interactions of Climate Intervention on the ethical and social dynamics of climate intervention technologies. Attendees from all disciplines, including social science, ethics, natural and life science, and engineering are welcomed. The workshops will be held October 15 – November 21, 2024. Limited Submission Competitions
The following programs have a limited submission requirement. If you are interested in the program, you must submit a notice of intent by the internal deadline to be eligible to participate in an internal selection competition if one is held.

| NSF DCL: UKRI/BBSRC- NSF/BIO Lead Agency Opportunity in Biological Informatics, Systems Understanding of Host-Microbe Interactions, Synthetic Cells and Cellular Systems, and Synthetic Microbial Communities | Expression of Interest: October 31, 2024 | This DCL solicits research projects aligned with topics of priority for NSF BIO and the UK Research and Innovation Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. Research teams must identify one of these two agencies to submit to as the “Lead Agency”. See DCL for more details. |

Deadlines vary by division. See program description for more details. All proposals must leverage computation/data to advance knowledge beyond the goals of the participating individual programs. |
| NSF DCL: Strengthening the Evidence Base Related to Broadening the Participation of LGBTQI+ Individuals in STEM | Varies | Several types of proposals and programs are encouraged with this DCL. Deadlines vary by program. Proposers are strongly encouraged to discuss proposal concepts with program directors in the relevant program(s) before submission, or to contact lgbtqi-dcl@nsf.gov. |
Sponsored Projects Policy Spotlight: NSF Sexual Harassment Reporting Terms & Conditions
NSF’s policy requires that institutions report harassment and/or assault involving NSF-funded PIs and/or Co-PIs. This term & condition covers sexual harassment, other forms of harassment, and sexual assault. Other forms of harassment include but are not limited to harassment based on ethnicity, race, or disability. UTC’s process for adhering to this requirement, as well as information on how to report harassment to UTC and NSF can be found here.
