Greetings, faculty!
Please see the list of announcements, funding opportunities, and resources below. Archives of previous updates are available on ORSP’s blog.
Announcements
- NSF is hosting a virtual seminar on October 17 from 11am-12:15pm ET, entitled “AI-assisted Data Manipulation & Programming: User Experiences, and Neuro-Symbolic Techniques.” Learn more and register to attend here.
- NIH is hosting a 2-part webinar series on the grants process. Part One: An Overview of the Pre-Award Process will be held on November 13 from 1– 4pm ET. Part Two: An Interactive Experience will be held on November 14 from 1-4pm ET. ORSP encourages new and new-to-NIH investigators to attend. Learn more and register here.
- The NIH National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences is accepting applications from individuals and teams for the NIH Quantum Biomedical Innovations and Technologies (Qu-BIT) Program prize competitions. There are two Challenges: 1) quantum sensing and 2) quantum computing. The individual serving as PI must be a US citizen or permanent resident. PIs may submit directly to NIH on behalf of their teams; the application does not need to route through ORSP.
- Does your research require a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA)? MTAs are contracts that govern the transfer of tangible research materials between two parties. If you need an MTA in place, please contact Angie Morelock, Director of Award Services (Angie-Morelock@utc.edu). MTAs need to route through ORSP so that we can help ensure compliance with UT policy and any obligations to funding sources, as well as coordinate a review with the UT Research Foundation, if needed.

Sponsored Projects Policy Spotlight: Subawards
Sponsored Projects Policy FI0230 lays out the policies and procedures for subaward origination and monitoring. As a reminder, ORSP’s Award Services team is the starting point for developing all subaward contracts to and from other institutions. It is the PI’s responsibility to notify ORSP when they are ready to issue a subaward to a collaborating institution and to monitor the subrecipient’s spending and milestone/deliverable completion. More information is available on ORSP’s award management webpage.
