Drs. Yu Liang, Cuilan Gao, Dalei Wu (Computer Science and Engineering), Hemant Jain (Management) and Anthony Skjellum (SimCenter) have received $723,641 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “HDR DSC: Collaborative Research: ADACE – Anthropocentric Data Analytics for Community Enrichment.”
Charles Mix and Nyssa Hunt (IGTLab) have received $1,088 from the McCoy Farm and Gardens for the project entitled, “McCoy Farm and Gardens Arboretum Map.”
Dr. Brooke Persons (Social, Cultural, and Justice Studies) has requested and received $2,980 from Teresa Anderson for the project entitled, “Phase I Survey at Seymour Bluff, Baldwin Co., AL.”
Dr. Anthony Skjellum (SimCenter) has received $60,000 from the Department of Energy in partnership with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for the project entitled, “Fault Tolerant MPI Research.”
Drs. Anthony Skjellum (SimCenter) and Craig Tanis (Computer Science and Engineering) have received $450,097 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “SPX: Collaborative Research: Intelligent Communication Fabrics to Facilitate Extreme Scale Computing.”
Drs. Anthony Skjellum, Abi Arabshahi, Bailey Kirby (SimCenter), and Jennifer Ellis (School of Education) have received $57,635 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “Collaborative Proposal: ECR: PEER: Software Engineering Workforce Development in High-Performance Computing for Digital Twins.”
Drs. Mengjun Xie (Computer Science and Engineering) and Li Yang (National Center of Academic Excellence for Cyber Defense) have received $149,104 from the Department of Defense in partnership with the National Security Agency Central Security Service for the project entitled, “An Open-source, Cloud-based Hands-on Approach to Faculty Development.”
Drs. Li Yang (National Center of Academic Excellence for Cyber Defense) and Mengjun Xie (Computer Science and Engineering) have received $62,752 from the Department of Defense in partnership with the National Security Agency Central Security Service for the project entitled, “UTC DoD Scholarship.”
Drs. Li Yang (National Center of Academic Excellence for Cyber Defense) and Mengjun Xie (Computer Science and Engineering) have received $149,998 from the Department of Defense in partnership with the National Security Agency Central Security Service for the project entitled, “AI in Cybersecurity.”

Drs. Farah Kandah (Computer Science and Engineering), Amanda Clark (Psychology), and Anthony Skjellum (SimCenter) have requested $242,336 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “SaTC: EDU: Collaborative: A Hands-on Approach to Teaching and Learning Cloud Security Principles and Best Practices.”
Catherine Kendall (Interior Design) has requested $3,878 from the Tennessee Board of Architectural and Engineering Examiners for the project entitled, “2019 TBAEE NCIDQ Scholarships Freshman Packets and 3D Mapping Grant Proposal.”
Drs. Abdelrahman Karrar and Abdul Ofoli (Electrical Engineering) have requested $27,273 from the Tennessee Board of Architectural and Engineering Examiners for the project entitled, “TBAEE 2020 Electrical Engineering Interdisciplinary Design Project Proposal + FE Exam Fees.”
Drs. Jared Pienkos, John Lee, and Wang-Yong Yang (Chemistry and Physics) have requested $249,519 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “RUI: Exploiting Pyridyl-based Ligands and Secondary Site Interactions in Transition Metal Alkynyl Compounds.”
Drs. Mina Sartipi (CUIP), Jose Barbosa, Sean Richards (Biology, Geology, and Environmental Science), Dalei Wu (Computer Science and Engineering), Charlie Mix, and Nyssa Hunt (IGTLab) in collaboration with the UT Institute of Agriculture have requested $129,497 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “SCC-PG: Chattanooga Agrihood Initiative: Establishing an Integrated, Sustainable, Neighborhood-Driven Platform to Promote Healthier Communities.”
Dr. Mina Sartipi (CUIP) has requested $289,762 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture via the National Institute of Food and Agriculture for the project entitled, “Predicting Bovine Respiratory Disease and Sexual Receptivity Using Sensor Networks and Machine Learning.”
Drs. Mina Sartipi (CUIP) and Chandra Ward (Social, Cultural, and Justice Studies) in collaboration with Vanderbilt University have requested $325,000 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “SCC-IRG Track 1: Mobility for all – Harnessing Emerging Transit Solutions for Underserved Communities.”
Dr. Priscilla Simms-Roberson (School of Nursing) has requested $5,000 from CVS Health Foundation for the project entitled, “2019 CVS Health Foundation Advance Practice Nurse and Physician Assistant Scholarship Program.”
Drs.
