Can you remember the last time you sent a postcard? The last time you received a postcard? Probably not. If you look for them, however, postcards are still there (on that little spinner rack, waaayyy in the back, but still there).
I have sent postcards in recent years-under the guise of a friendly gesture but, when you think about it, mostly to gloat about what a fabulous time I’m having in relation to what a dull time the recipient must be having. This is not, however, the only reason that postcards are fun. As you can see from the above examples, postcards can tell an interesting story of a particular place at a particular moment in time. These postcards are from our Chattanooga Postcard Collections (#1 and #2). They depict some of the most-recognizable markers of Chattanooga and the surrounding area.
So whether you are visiting the World’s Largest Peanut Sculpture in Ashburn, Georgia or just hanging around in Possum Trot, Kentucky, pick up a post card. Send it, or save it- you never know where it might end up.
