Sigh. No matter how fast I run lately, I can’t get away from vampires.
A work project has me living & breathing the undead (“hey, what’s that smell?“). I’ve recently developed an insatiable thirst for the HBO series True Blood. Robert Pattison (aka, sparkly vampire Edward Cullen from Twilight fame) is in Chattanooga working on a new film and we are all subject to the updates from our local media outlets (where he’s eating, sleeping, walking, breathing). Anne Rice, of Vampire Chronicles fame, is in the news for severing her ties with the Catholic Church.
And here I am, held by that hypnotic gaze of all-things-vampire, unable to get away. Okay, the scary background story is over and you can all uncover your eyes; I do have a little something for you.
In honor of all things vampire, below is a woodblock print of the iconic Nosferatu. The print comes from a rare and beautiful little book entitled An Alphabet, by renowned artist and illustrator Barry Moser who selected unusual images to go with letters of the alphabet. This book was printed from the original woodblocks by Pennyroyal Press in 1986. Our copy is number 116 of the 150 that were printed and is signed by Mr. Moser. Included is the woodblock print of the corresponding letter for the image.
