Just when you need them – Spring workshops have hit the library! Whether you’re a student with a term paper emergency, or a somewhat more (ahem) “mature” faculty or staff member who wants to learn how to dazzle your colleagues with your Excel, Word, PowerPoint, or Outlook prowess, the library has a workshop (or three) for you.
First, the facts:
- Workshops are FREE
- You may reserve a spot by registering online
- Some professors are giving extra credit for these workshops – check with yours!
- Some workshops qualify for HRO 128 for UTC staff
Now, the fun – the workshops!
Free and Clear
Free is good! Find out about software and tools you can get for free if you just knew where to look.
Excel for Research and Presentation
Dazzle ‘em with your gorgeous spreadsheets and sexy graphs! It’s a piece of cake.
Excel PivotTables & PivotCharts
It’s a proven fact that people who use PivotTables are viewed as smarter than those who don’t. Ok, we made that one up, but seriously, PivotTables and PivotCharts are crazy easy and amazingly powerful for evaluating data.
Word for Research Papers
Stop spending hours trying to locate and adjust “margins” (whatever those are). Learn the basics of page layout and manuscript formatting for your term papers.
Word Tables
Present statistics and data clearly and neatly in your Word docs with tables. Integrate Excel spreadsheets into your Word docs. Stun your professors and colleagues with your amazing documents.
PowerPoint for Dynamic Presentations
If you’ve got a presentation coming up, you NEED this workshop. The word “stunning” comes to mind.
Outlook Schedules and Calendars
Never miss a deadline again – learn how to stay on top of tasks with built-in time management functions, categorize and color-code important appointments, and coordinate schedules with others.
Cut and Paste: Strategies to Avoid Plagiarism
Plagiarism is more than buying a term paper on the web. Being sent to Honor Court isn’t exactly an “honor” so avoid it by understanding what constitutes plagiarism.
Term Paper Emergency
When your back is against the wall, we help you with this crash course in research topics, full-text databases, and citation guides. It’ll be ok.
