For our St. Patrick’s Day nod to Irish history, we offer two broadsides from Barry Moser’s Irish Historical Broadsides. The two men featured were prominent in Irish history for the roles they played in the Easter Rising– a rebellion against Britain with the goal of ending its rule over Ireland (& the establishment of the Irish Republic). These men were executed for their part in the rebellion and were considered martyrs by many.
The images were designed by Barry Moser, UTC alum and world renowned illustrator, and printed in a limited edition of 200 in the Spring of 1979. The man on the right is James Connolly, Commondant of the Irish Citizen Army, and the man on the left is Patrick Henry Pearse, first President of the Provisional Republic of Ireland.
