Since 2020, the UTC Library, alongside various campus partners, has diligently strived to meet the increasing demand for laptops and essential devices crucial for academic success. Over the past four years, our semester-long laptop loan program has been a valuable resource. However, after careful evaluation of its usage patterns, we’re implementing some adjustments for the 2024/2025 academic year. We aim to optimize student access to up-to-date and dependable technology.
Moving forward, the UTC Library and its partners will no longer offer semester-long laptop and device loans. Instead, we’re introducing a more dynamic system designed to cater to the diverse needs of our student community. Here’s what’s in store for you:
Desktop Computers: Accessible on the first and second floors of the UTC Library, available whenever the library is staffed and open.
6-Hour Laptop Loans: Ideal for specific assignments, classes, or study sessions within the library’s various open or reservable study areas.
3-Day Chromebook Loans: Perfect for online tasks or assignments, offering flexibility over weekends.
Two-Week Laptop Loans: Suitable for scenarios where your personal device is undergoing repairs or if you have a longer-term assignment. One renewal is possible with a written request.
In case short-term loans or library resources don’t meet your requirements, or if financial constraints hinder you from purchasing your own device, the Office of Student Outreach and Support may be able to provide assistance. Visit this link for more information.
All short-term loans are available at the first-floor Check Out desk in the library, requiring a valid MocsCard or Mobile ID. We’re committed to enhancing your academic journey by ensuring equitable access to essential resources.
