Between the new catalog, the new research guides, the new exhibit in Special Collections, and the new library building, there sure is a lot of “newness” here at the Lupton Library. To this mix of exciting changes, we can add several important new changes to library databases. In particular, the tremendously popular LexisNexis and JSTOR databases have completely redesigned their looks and behavior, all with the goal of helping you search more efficiently.
LexisNexis
LexisNexis is one of the Library’s premier sources for news, legal research, and company information. Whether you need SEC filings, state and federal court cases, or you want to read the newspaper online, LexisNexis has you covered. As part of the LexisNexis commitment to quality research, the search interface has been streamlined and several convenient options have been added. The most significant changes are in the color scheme, the navigation menu, and the Easy Search form. However, all of the great content available through LexisNexis is still available and, probably, a lot easier to find. For more information on the new interface, you can visit the LexisNexis wiki page, visit the LexisNexis YouTube channel for helpful tutorials,or keep track of current and forthcoming tutorials created here in the Library.
With over 49,000 searches last year alone, JSTOR is one of the most popular databases at UTC, so many of you have probably already seen the recent make-over. The familiar red and gold search interface has been completely reworked, with more emphasis on displaying content from a wide variety of sources. All of the same great articles are available, though you now have the ability to expand your search to content outside of JSTOR, or track down citations using Google Scholar.
