Meet Nicole Tekulve, our new Information Commons Librarian. Nicole comes to UTC from the University of Southern Indiana where she served as Instructional Services Librarian. Don’t mistake her for a Hoosier, though. Nicole grew up in the Volunteer State, earned her B.A. from Middle Tennessee State University, and worked in libraries throughout the Nashville and Murfreesboro areas before defecting to pursue her professional librarian endeavors. We’re happy to have her and hope you’ll give her a high-five and a “what up?” when you see her. In the meantime, here are 10 questions and 10 answers.
What was your favorite class in undergrad?
The Films of Woody Allen.
Name a movie you’ve seen more than five times. What makes it so enduring?
Revenge of the Nerds. It’s one of those “it’s so bad it’s good” movies. If it’s on TV, I have to watch it.
What are three of your road trip essentials?
Podcasts, caffeine, and GPS.
If you were to join the circus, what role would you like to play?
The person who trains and performs with the fancy poodles.
You have a little poodle — do you baby-talk to it? Dress it up?
Even though I’m a crazy dog lady, I don’t really do the baby-talk thing. I do, however, dress my dog up all the time. He even has his own drawer filled with sweaters, t-shirts, and holiday costumes.
What do you wish you had more time to do?
Volunteer and work in the community. I am exploring the idea of starting a rock camp for girls in Chattanooga like the one I used to direct in Murfreesboro (Southern Girls Rock & Roll Camp).
What is your favorite fair or amusement park ride?
The Gravitron because of the cool name.
Which three mobile apps do you use the most?
Currently Tweetdeck, Instagram, and Temple Run 2.
Which historical figure would you invite out for ice cream sundaes?
Cleopatra. I bet she has some stories.
Rock, paper, or scissors?
Scissors.
