Bo Baker joins the Lupton Library faculty as the Information Commons Librarian. A recent graduate of the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Information Sciences, Bo was most recently employed as an Information Assistant at the Carnegie Mellon University Science and Engineering Library. In addition to a MLIS, Bo is completing a Masters in Media Studies from UT Austin and holds a BA in Mass Communication from Miami University. His research interests include the use of media technology in higher education, digital preservation, and copyright.
Bo describes his pre-librarian past as “wayward” at times paying the bills by making sushi, DJing for radio, and occasionally holding down real jobs in financial services. Outside of work, Bo enjoys learning about local folklore – a hobby that has taken him on Bigfoot expeditions and overnight stays at supposedly haunted locales. He also reads up on Hollywood and recording industry history, delights in “gut bomb” diner food, and finds inspiration in vintage motorcycle designs, poster art, and professional wrestling.
