LOS ANGELES (THELOOP/AP) – The Chris Brown-Rihanna assault case saga came to a close when Brown was sentenced to five years of probation and six months of community labor.
The sentencing judge, Patricia Schnegg, also ordered Brown to stay away from Rihanna for the next five years. Judge Schnegg said that she wanted to make sure that Brown does physical labor for his sentence instead of community service type activities such as mentoring children. Brown will serve his sentence in his home state of Virginia.
Rihanna was not present at the sentencing.
The sentence stems from Brown’s February 2009 arrest after he was accused of beating Rihanna. He plead guilty to felony assault in June.
