UTC, TVA, and IEEE cordially invite you to attend a technical IEC 61850 Seminar by Omicron electronics. IEC 61850, the standard for “Communication networks and systems in substations”, utilizes network technologies for all kinds of information exchange within a substation. It represents the next step in the integration of multifunctional IEDs based on the development and implementation of advanced distributed protection and controls functions.
This seminar is specifically tailored to project planners, operating and commissioning staff who need to understand how to take full advantage of this potential for successful application.
The key speaker is Dr. Alexander Apostolov, principle engineer at OMICRON electronics Corporation. He is an IEEE Fellow and Member of the Power Systems Relaying Committee and Substations C0 Subcommittee. He is the past Chairman of the Relay Communications Subcommittee, serves on multiple IEEE PES Working Groups and is Chairman of Working Group C9: Guide for Abnormal Frequency Load Shedding and Restoration. Dr. Apostolov is also an IEEE PES Distinguished Lecturer.
This day-long seminar on the International Electrotechnical Commission’s (IEC) 61850 standard for substation communication is sponsored by TVA, IEEE, and UTC. It will be held on Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010, starting at 8:00am at UTC.
Though the seminar is free, space is limited and reservations required. Please see the seminar flyer for registration information.
