DfI -Design for Independence is the experiential learning project for the Introduction to Engineering Design course in the mechanical engineering program at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The goal is for students to experience learning of the engineering design process by working to solve a real-life problem for an actual client. In general, the project solutions solve small, low-technology problems that help persons with disabilities, and others, be independent in their work and home. The primary instructor of the course is Dr. Cecelia M. Wigal.
