The Construction Management Competition Team representing the Engineering Management & Technology department at the College of Engineering and Computer Science traveled the Greensboro, NC for the Associated Schools in Construction (ASC) Region 2 Student Competition on October 28, 2015. The team will compete in a two day competition against other Universities including University of Florida, Virginia Tech, Auburn University, Clemson University, UNC Charlotte, Mississippi State University, and Appalachian State University. The competition includes each team given a project they have never seen before, which will be a 12-story office building setting on top of a 6-story parking garage totaling over 240,000 square feet . Each team has 12 hours to prepare an estimate, formal proposal, project schedule, safety plan, logistics plan, BIM model, and a 20 minute presentation. Judges will be from major architectural firms, major engineering firms, and major general contractor firms. The six students representing UTC are Dominic Nanni, Campbell Lewis, Anthony Preskitt, Jordan Pitt Taylor Copeland, Houston Kowing. Major sponsors for the competition are Carolina Associated General Contractors, Kiewit Civil, Holder Construction, McCarthy Architects, Crowder Construction. Over 16 major firms offered a job fair at the ASC Region 2 Conference.
