The partnership between the College and of Engineering and Computer Science and Denso Corporation, a global automotive components manufacturer, spans eleven years, and has been a key element of the Racing Mocs Baja Team’s success. The College welcomed the opportunity to thank our Denso partners at an event held earlier this month with Denso officials, members of the Racing Mocs Team, College alumni, faculty and staff.
Denso’s recent gift of $49,000 will be used in support of the 2017-18 project design and vehicle construction. The company’s ongoing and valued support also encompasses annual site visits by our students and faculty to Denso’s regional manufacturing facilities, as well as internships and post-graduation employment for CECS students. May 2017 CECS Mechanical Engineering graduate, Brock Scholar, and Racing Moc Team Member, Ashley Thompson, pictured in the driver’s seat of the 2016-17 baja vehicle, works as an engineer with Denso. Ashley was one of only six persons selected from a pool of 1,700 applicants for the post with Denso which involves training opportunities in both the US and Japan.
