In October, faculty and student representatives of the CECS Department of Engineering Technology Management participated in the International Annual Conference of the American Society for Engineering Management (ASEM) held in Huntsville, AL. ASEM is the organization which speaks for the profession of engineering management across the globe, and serves as a resource for procedures, advances, and practices in that field, as well as the professional certification of engineering management professionals.
Led by Associate Dean and Engineering Management Department Head Dr. Neslihan Alp, the CECS participants attended workshops and other sessions focused on the conference theme, “Reimagining Systems Engineering and Management.” CECS MS: Engineering Management May 2017 graduation candidate Anthony Schmidt presented his capstone paper during the four-day meeting. Anthony worked with Dr. Alp as his major professor in development of the paper entitled, ” Improving Patient Care Through Earlier Discharge Times by Using Six-Sigma Tools.”
At the conference awards ceremony, the late Dr. Ron Cox, former Dean of CECS and long-time faculty member in the Department of Engineering Technology Management, was memorialized. Sarah Godbehere of Gonzaga University was named the inaugural recipient of the Dr. Ronald Cox ASEM Undergraduate Scholarship. During the 2016 meeting of the Society, Dr. Cox was honored as recipient of the prestigious Bernard R.
