UTC and the College of Engineering and Computer Science wants its students to graduate not just with a diploma, but with the tools they need to succeed, as well. That’s why throughout the remainder of this month and in November, there will be a frequent staging of events designed to do just that. Events hosted in pandemic appropriate formats will be used to aid students in important matters such as resume curating, interview success, and how best to use a professional online presence.
On October 30th, the CECS Center for Student Success will be hosting Backpack 2 Briefcase from 1-3pm via Handshake. It will be geared toward Professional Development and centered on professional volunteers from Chattanooga area companies who are capable of wonderful input on resumes, LinkedIn tips, professional attire, interviewing success, and many other important things for the aspiring young professional to keep in mind. Be sure to register for Backpack 2 Briefcase!
The November 2nd Resume Doctor event will be held on Handshake as well, and will take place from 10am-12pm. Once registered, you will have the opportunity to meet individually with a professional who will take a look at and offer seasoned advice on your resume, and how it can best be improved for the upcoming Career Fair. You can reserve your time slot and will be asked to upload your resume to Handshake prior to your appointment. This is a fantastic opportunity to hone your future employer’s first impression of you, so don’t miss out!
The Professional Development series culminates with the November 4th Career Fair, which will be held via Handshake and is open to students from all majors. From 10am to 2pm registered participants will have the opportunity to explore employment and internship openings in companies of interest to them. Though the event will, of course, be held virtually this year, the chance to introduce yourself on a professional level to company representatives in the Chattanooga area is no less potent. Be sure to register!
The CECS Center of Student Success wishes UTC students the best in the upcoming professional development events and in the rest of the semester!
