This fall, CECS marked the opening of the College’s Living, Learning Community [CECS LLC] as a part of the University’s innovative residential life offerings. Seven young men from Georgia and across Tennessee are residents of the campus Walker Apartments, participating in a special topics course under the mentorship of Associate Dean Dr. Neslihan Alp, and exploring opportunities to learn more about the academic programs and activities of the College. From casual coffee at a local eatery, to meeting over course selection and potential internships, the activities of the LLC to date have provided a great way for those freshmen to engage with the College in a variety of new initiatives.
During the course of the 2016-17 academic year, the inaugural CECS LLC residents will be participating in additional team building activities in the College, while the faculty and staff consider the feasibility of expanding the number of students admitted to the program in future years.
