A simple way to describe global leadership is that it is “leadership” with construct “global” in front of it. In other words, it means leading in a global context or environment. But what does the term, “global,” really mean? Just like the terms, “art,” “beauty,” and “love” hold different meanings for different people, scholars working in this new field of global leadership found that different scholars had various implicit definitions of the construct, “global.” My colleagues and I have recently been trying to delineate in more fine-grained detail what the concept of “global” means and how we should think about it in reference to leadership.
