Dr. Leila Pratt, UTC Hart Professor of Economics, will retire January 1, 2018 after 43 years of service at UTC. Dr. Pratt will retire as Emeritus Professor of Economics. It is estimated that over her 43 years of teaching, she has influenced the minds of nearly 12,000 students in her classroom. She is also an influential researcher who has been published in many journals including the Journal of Money Credit and Banking, Southern Economic Journal, IMF Staff Papers, Journal of Macroeconomics, Journal of Private Enterprise, and many more. Her research topics of interest include the Labor Market, Government Regulation, and Sports Economics.
Over the years, Dr. Pratt has taught many Economics courses, including: Introduction to Econometrics, Women in the Economy, Environmental Economics, Managerial Economics, Principles of Economics: Microeconomics, and Principles of Economics: Macroeconomics.
Dr. Pratt received her Ph.D. in Economics from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1975. She is Chairman of the City of Chattanooga Waste Water Regulation Appeals Board and is affiliated with the Academy of Economics and Finance, and the Western Social Science Association.
