On Wednesday, February 6, 2019, UTC students representing many departments across campus attended the POWER of WE: an externship at BlueCross BlueShield of TN. The externship was hosted by the Gary W. Rollins College of Business and BCBST with support from the Student Government Association, Black Student Alliance, and Black History Month at UTC. Students who participated in the externship had the opportunity to gain insight into career opportunities, interact with BlueCross professionals, and connect classroom and real-world experiences.
BCBST provided a packed agenda where students heard from BlueCross professionals and UTC alumni who presented on topics including Health Informatics, Finance & Accounting, Business Engineering, Communications, and Talent Acquisition. A diverse group of students participated in the externship representing departments such as Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, Graphic Design, Mathematics, and Political Science.
