Current Master’s of Accountancy student, Madison Gaither, received the Student Research Award for her most recent research at the SOBIE (Society of Business, Industry, and Economics) conference in Sandestin, FL. Madison’s research paper, “Challenges and Opportunities of First-Generation College Students in Business: An Exploratory Survey” was selected among 23 total student research submissions. SOBIE is “the premier academic conference for small and regional universities”.
When asked why she chose this particular topic, she says “As a first-generation college student myself, I was interested in learning more about the unique experiences of these individuals in business programs. I plan to work with Dr. Anne Wilkins to dive deeper into the results and hopefully, get the paper published in an academic journal.”
