Ms. Belinda Brownlee (Center for Community Career Education) has received $319,122 from the U.S. Department of Education for the project entitled, “UTC Upward Bound Program.”
Ms. Sandra Cole (Center for Community Career Education) has received $10,750 from the City of Chattanooga for the project entitled, “CK, Now! Scholarships and Programming.”
Dr. Lucien Ellington & Jeffrey Melnik (School of Education) have received $17,996 from the Freeman Foundation for the project entitled, “Freeman Foundation Teacher Professional Development Programs 2018-2019.”
Dr. Gregory Heath (Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research) has requested and received $4,000 from Oak Ridge Associated Universities for the project entitled, “Tennessee University – Business Showcase.”
Dr. Mark Schorr (Biology) has received $4,505 from the Limestone Valley Resource Conservation and Development Council for the project entitled, “Assessment of Nonpoint Source Water Pollution in North Georgia Streams.”
Dr. Anthony Skjellum (Sim Center) has received $16,000 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “CICI: Data Provenance: Collaborative Research: Provenance Assurance Using Currency Primitives.”

Dr. Vahid Rasouli Disfani (Electrical Engineering) has submitted a preliminary proposal to the Department of Energy for the project entitled, “Grid Integration of Solar Photovoltaic Systems through Modular Multilevel Converters with Cell Level Power Electronics Submodules.”
Ms. Tricia Henderson (Student Affairs) and Dr. Elizabeth O’Brien Oden (Counseling) have requested $373,427 from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services for the project entitled, “Chattanooga Mental Health Partnership Project.”
Drs. Yu Liang, Dalei Wu (Computer Science & Engineering), Dr. Zibin Guo (Social, Cultural, and Justice Studies), Dr. Nancy Fell (Physical Therapy) and Dr. Amanda Clark (Psychology) have requested $903,276 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “RUI: Collaborative Research: ACTIVE – Aging and Chronic Disease Management with Tai-Chi in an Individualized Virtual Environment.”
Mr. Charles Mix (IGT Lab) has requested $3,229 from American Rivers for the project entitled, “Tuckasegee River Trail Map Design.”
Dr. Abdul Ofoli (Electrical Engineering) has submitted a preliminary proposal to the Department of Energy for the project entitled, “Developing, Training and Bridging the Skills Gap for the Solar Workforce.”
Drs. Donald Reising, T. Daniel Loveless (Electrical Engineering) and Dr. Mina Sartipi (Computer Science & Engineering) have submitted a preliminary proposal to the Department of Energy for the project entitled, “Smart Building through Smarter Models.”
Drs. Mina Sartipi (Computer Science & Engineering) and Chandra Ward (Social, Cultural and Justice Studies) have requested $22,713 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “Planning Grant: Engineering Research Center for Enhancing Livability in Urban Communities for the 21st Century (LUC21).”
Dr. Kidambi Sreenivas (Mechanical Engineering) has requested $5,205 from SmartTruck Systems, LLC for the project entitled, “CFD study of the impact of 2016 Truck/Trailer combination on drag reduction devices.”
Drs. Li Yang, Dalei Wu & Yu Liang (Computer Science & Engineering) have requested $246,885 from the National Security Agency/Central Security Service for the project entitled, “Developing Advanced Data Science Curriculum in Cybersecurity.”
