In 2012, Sue Culpepper became the director of Finance for the Future Initiative (FFI) and since then she has helped develop multiple event series for College of Business students (and might I add, they have been very successful)!
January kicked off Global Women, a lunch series designed to help women who are students at UTC to understand their personal strengths, their personal brand, and how those aspects can work for them in the business world. These students are able to network with leading women in the Chattanooga community at each event. This series has featured speakers such as Monique Berke VP of Unum’s Investment Management Group, Stefanie Crowe VP at CapitalMark Bank and will soon feature Chattanooga Judge Christie Sell on April 11.
February then kicked off FFI’s First Tuesday Lunch & Learn Series, designed for College of Business students to learn from successful business leaders in the Chattanooga area in an intimate lunch setting. This series helps develop networking skills for students as well as opportunities to engage with Chattanooga business leaders firsthand! The series has featured speakers such as MaryStewart Lewis, Regional VP at AT&T, Glenn Morris, CEO of M& M Industries, and will soon feature Kim White, President and CEO of River City Company on April 2.
In addition to the many events that have been developed, Sue was featured in the Chattanooga business magazine, EDGE, in the “Leading Ladies” article. Sue states in the article, “In Chattanooga there seems to be a diminishment of women in leadership. Companies are consolidating roles (because of the recession). Women now are looking toward entrepreneurship.” To read more about this go here.
We can’t wait to see what else Sue does for the College of Business and the FFI program later down the road, it will be an exciting journey to watch!
