Three College of Business programs have an application deadline of May 15, 2018: the Business Empowerment Academy, Summer Business Experience, and Business Living Learning Community.
The Business Empowerment Academy (BEA) is a NEW 5-day residential summer program that is free of charge to all participants. The program is open to under-represented students (i.e., Native American, African American, Asian American, Hispanic), first generation college students or students on free or reduced lunch who are academically talented rising high school seniors (a senior in the fall of 2018) with a minimum GPA of 2.85. The program will focus on building a portfolio of skills in networking and overall professionalism, while reviewing the various majors offered in the College of Business. The program will take place June 25-29, 2018 on UTC’s campus in Downtown Chattanooga.
The BEA offers the opportunity to interact one-on-one with university professors and successful business professionals through a variety of hands-on workshops, field trips and seminars. In addition, students will get a preview of college life and the Chattanooga experience through recreational events that include athletic activities, picnics, visits to area attractions and more!

Now in its fifth year, the Summer Business Experience (SBE) is a 5-day residential summer program designed for academically talented rising high school seniors (a senior in the fall of 2018) who are interested in pursuing a career in business. The SBE includes visits to top employers of the UTC College of Business school graduates, including national and regional leaders in the manufacturing, retail, and service industries. Students will experience personal interaction with top-level executives as well as behind-the-scenes tours. The program will take place June 18-22, 2018 on UTC’s campus in Downtown Chattanooga.

The Business Living Learning Community is a “Living and Learning Community” for a select group of incoming business freshmen who exhibit the potential to be both outstanding leaders and scholars in and out of the classroom. The Business LLC provides first-time freshmen who are business majors the opportunity to:
- Integrate academic and social lives through common living quarters, class schedules and outside activities during their freshman year at UTC
- Work closely with juniors and seniors majoring in business, College faculty, campus administrators and community leaders while on campus
Students who participate in any LLC exhibit higher academic success during their first year in college; develop strong interpersonal relationships in and out of the classroom; utilize more campus resources; participate in more campus activities; and mature into confident leaders in and out of college.
