The sales program and curriculum at UTC continue to grow and thrive, with MKT 2630: Personal Selling and Self-Promotion quickly becoming a student favorite. Since its launch in fall 2024, enrollment has surged as students, parents and advisors recognize the course’s real-world value, interactive learning and immediate impact on personal confidence and communication skills. For fall 2025, both sections of the course are full — a clear sign of its success.
UTC graduate Mary Kemp (B.S., Communication), who successfully completed the Personal Selling and Self-Promotion course last spring, shared her thoughts about the class. “A couple of weeks ago, I completed my first mock sales call as part of my sales course. It was such a great opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and put new techniques into action. Thank you… for constantly believing in all of your students,” she said. “I was terrified of sales at the beginning of the semester, but now, as it comes to a close, I feel so much more confident in my abilities. Your encouragement and passion for teaching made all the difference — thank you for helping me grow!”
The MKT 2630 Personal Selling and Self-Promotion course counts as one of two required general education ‘Behavioral and Social Science’ courses at UTC (which all UTC students must complete). You can learn more about the sales programs and curriculum offerings at UTC here: Go.utc.edu/Sales
