
The Gary W. Rollins College of Business recently announced the naming of the John “Art” Phillips Sales Institute, thanks to a generous gift from the Phillips family. The institute is led by accomplished professionals with decades of experience in sales education, marketing strategy and industry innovation. Together, they are developing future sales professionals and creating opportunities for students to excel in a competitive marketplace.
Dr. Christopher Plouffe, excutive director
Dr. Plouffe serves as the founding Gary W. Rollins Endowed Chair and professor of Sales and executive director of the John “Art” Phillips Sales Institute. An award-winning leader in sales education, he brings 25 years of experience initiating, advancing and governing top university sales programs nationwide. Dr. Plouffe had marketing and sales roles at Hewlett-Packard before earning his Ph.D. He also held tenured or tenure-track positions at New Mexico State University, University of Akron, Florida State University, Washington State University, and University of Georgia. His research has appeared in top journals and quoted in Fortune and BusinessWeek.
Libby Fakier, managing director
Professor Fakier is a lecturer in Marketing and Entrepreneurship and managing director of the John “Art” Phillips Sales Institute. She has led marketing, branding, partner relations and communications for iconic brands like Cartoon Network, McDonald’s and NASCAR on TNT. Her award-winning career spans media, sports, consumer packaged goods and technology. Her expertise is creating impactful, data-driven marketing strategies that spark curiosity, build connections and leave a lasting impression.
Dr. David Locander, coordinator of sales competitions, assessments and technology
Dr. Locander is an associate professor of Marketing and coordinator of sales assessments, technology and competitions for our Double It sales team. His industry background includes retail and B2B sales. His research on salesperson behavior, emotional intelligence and adaptive selling appears in leading journals. He uses that experience to coach our Double It sales team. He is also a fellow of the Direct Selling Education Foundation and serves on the review board for the Journal of Selling.
