Germany was absolutely breathtaking. The first week in Germany, we spent our time in Berlin. There in Berlin, I could walk to what they call “museum island”. There you could spend all the time you wanted and just take it all in. Especially in the Berlin Cathedral, there you could get the chance to see the city in 360 degree panorama. I could also walk to the Brandenburg Gate, take a U-Bahn (subway) to get to the Berlin mall, go to the TV tower, or just walk around. By the end of the week, it almost felt natural walking around the streets. I would walk to the Berlin Cathedral and just sit in front where it was just grass. During the week, I got to see the city by walking and by the city tour. I also got the chance to go to the BMW Motorcycle factory. It was so cool to see how they were made and how they are special ordered. Besides the factory the next best thing was the food. I’m a vegetarian, but there was no problem eating. Berlin had so many options and I was just so delicious.
We did have one free day in Berlin. I went to the mall, with some friends just to walk around and after that we ended up having lunch at the Vietnamese restaurant. After lunch, we took the U-Bahn towards Olympic Stadium to watch the last soccer game in Berlin. The stadium was so big and the crowd was going wild. It was definitely one for the books.
The second and final week was spent in Wolfsburg. The first night we got the chance to go to a carnival. I loved the atmosphere for a small town. The rest of the week we mostly spent with the students at the University. I got to visit the Volkswagen factory and the Jägermeister factory. During the Volkswagen tour, we got the chance to tour parts of the factory and see how the cars are produced. During the Jägermeister tour, we got the chance to see how the drink is made. Of course, they didn’t reveal the secret recipe, but it was so interesting. By the end of the week, I didn’t want to go back home and just wanted to stay longer in Germany.
