Music instructor Clint Schmitt will perform Friday, January 22, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall of the UTC Fine Arts Center. The performance is part of the UTC Music Faculty Concert Series.
Schmitt, on saxophone, will be joined by guests Sin-Hsing Tsai (piano), Heather Small (flute) and Aaron Schmitt (saxophone). He will perform two pieces by regional composers Paul Osterfield of Nashville, Tennessee, and Dorothy Hindman of Birmingham, Alabama, as well as music by Schulhoff, Francaix, Boutry, and Schocker. Schmitt’s son will also join him onstage for a piece for two saxophones by Paul Hindemith.
Schmitt holds an additional faculty position at Southern Adventist University, where he teaches applied saxophone and woodwind methods classes. He holds degrees in music education from Jacksonville State University and in saxophone performance from The New England Conservatory of Music. In addition to maintaining a full teaching schedule, Schmitt actively performs in the area in classical, jazz, and commercial settings.
