Several UTC faculty members will be presenting original research at the annual meeting of the Tennessee Conference of Historians. The University will be hosting this year’s conference on September 1-3. The conference is free and open to the public.
“The meeting provides a forum for historians who work, teach, or live in Tennessee to gather to talk about their research, to present papers, and to get to know one another,” Dr. Kit Rushing, Interim Head of the UTC Department of History, said.
Participating faculty in the conference include Steve Cox, Dr. Irven Resnick, Dr. Lucien Ellington, Dr. Sara Jorgenson, Dr. Richard Rice, Andrea Becksvoort, and Dr. Zibin Guo. Topics include politics, race, and culture.
“This meeting demonstrates the active and increasingly involved outreach of the department’s faculty. The value to the department, to our faculty, and very importantly to our students is significant. UTC’s history program is one of great potential, and the increased recognition gained by hosting the historians’ conference spreads UTC’s message across the state,” Rushing said.
