Grammy Award winning drummer and UTC alumnus, Forrest Robinson, will perform on Monday, October 3 at 7 p.m. in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall of the UTC Fine Arts Center. Forrest Robinson, a former music major at UTC, will present a drum clinic and performance with the UTC Percussion Ensemble, directed by Dr. Monte Coulter. This program is free and open to the public.
As a UTC student, Robinson performed with the UTC University Orchestra as timpanist under the baton of Thomas Wilkins. He also performed with the UTC Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble, directed by Tony D’Andrea and Dr. Monte Coulter, respectively. During his time at UTC he was also active in the music scene in Chattanooga.
“Since leaving UTC, Forrest Robinson has established a career as a professional drummer and percussionist at the very top of his profession. He is the recipient of seven Grammy awards,” Coulter said.
As the drummer for India.Arie, Victor Wooten, Joe Sample, TLC, Arrested Development, Hikaru Ataka, UTADA, The Crusaders, Angelique Kidjo and many others, Robinson has travelled the world as a musical performer and recording artist. With these and other artists, he has performed live on “Late Show with David Letterman,” “Saturday Night Live,” “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “The View,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “The Today Show,” “Good Morning America,” “Live with Regis and Kelly,” and more.
