Though the UTC Student Foundation (UTCSF) appointed its board of student trustees just a few months ago, the group has already organized fundraisers, launched a development campaign, and assisted in high profile University events.
“The purpose of UTCSF is to create a culture of lifetime, philanthropic giving to UTC. It is our mission to educate students about the importance of giving as alumni,” Andrew Clark, UTC student and board member.
Through this mission, the organization will act as the student body’s internal, fundraising unit by building and maintaining a fiscal endowment utilized for student advancement.
“It is our hope to one day have an endowment to grant funds to student groups and programs. These students are working to develop themselves and a better UTC,” Clark said.
Additionally, the UTCSF will serve as a liaison from the student body to the Office of Development and will function as a sustainable student leadership organization on campus.
This semester, the group hosted a fundraiser at a Lookouts game and has begun its own development campaign.
“The UTCSF Board of Trustees began a program of education and fundraising called the ‘Gateway to Achievement Campaign.’ This campaign involves making 25,000 connections with individuals through our programs and outreach, as well as fundraising $25,000 toward the endowment,” Clark said.
