Most college students just use social media to stay in contact with their friends, but for one enterprising UTC student, social media helped her land a scholarship.
Jessica Ingle earned one of only two $500 awards to the top challengers of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars’ (NSCS) summer program: The Summer Success S2 Challenge.
“I was very surprised that I was one of the winners. I was competing against approximately 800 other people, so I really didn’t think I was going to win. I was so excited that I almost cried,” she said.
Throughout the program, NSCS members interact through social media and complete challenges that will help to prepare them for the upcoming year as well as their future careers.
Each week select members who participated in the challenge were awarded a prize. At the end of the summer the top two S2 challengers with the most points were awarded scholarships.
“This scholarship means a lot. I have never been awarded a scholarship, so it is nice to know my hard work has finally paid off before I graduate in the spring,” Ingle continued.
