The University got into the holiday spirit this season by participating in community events and arranging on-campus celebrations.
Chancellor Roger Brown and his wife, Dr. Carolyn Thompson hosted the annual Holiday Open House in late November. Faculty, staff, and students enjoyed treats ranging from hot chocolate to cookies to sliced ham and listened to Christmas carols sung by the children (preschool and pre-K) at the UTC Children’s Center.
The University also hosted a holiday party for faculty and staff at the nearby Lindsay Hall. The building, an historic church turned event venue, was the perfect setting for a holiday get together.
The children in the UTC Children’s Center got into the spirit and came to decorate the tree in Founders Hall with ornaments they made. They were assisted by UTC employees Dr. John Delaney, Vice Chancellor for Student Development, and Tyler Forrest, Financial Analyst for Business and Financial Affairs.
UTC participated in the Mainx24 parade by bringing the Mocs train. Mainx24 is a 24-hour long festival celebrating Main Street and the surrounding Southside, held every December since 2007. The project has been a way to celebrate and showcase the burgeoning Southside. Mainx24 is organized completely by residents, merchants, and friends of the Southside community.
