An Afternoon of Opera issponsored by the Connor Society on Sunday, April 15, at 3 p.m. in the Roland Hayes Hall, UTC Fine Arts Center, located at the intersection of Vine and Palmetto Streets. This event is free and open to the public,and celebrates UTC’s 125th Year and the 8th year of the Connor Society,
Selections from Carmen, Rigoletto, La Traviata, Lakme, Pearlfishers, Samson & Delilah, The Elixir of Love, and The Magic Flute will be performed by: Cherry Brendel, soprano; Rosella Ewing, mezzo-soprano; Ron Brendel, tenor; John Brandon, baritone; Perry Mears, piano. Bob Bernhardt will serve as host.
The Connor Society was formed in 2003 to honor former UTC Professor George C. Connor and has as its goal hosting semi-annual events that feature individuals prominent in those fields of endeavor to which George Connor was passionately devoted—arts, literature and language, the theatre, journalism, education, politics and the humanities. A fund to support the Society’s endeavors was established through the University of Chattanooga Foundation.
