In partnership with the Salvation Army of Chattanooga, the UTC Department of Theatre and Speech will assist in a community production of the popular musical, Godspell on July 20th and 21st at 7:30 p.m., July 22nd at 2 p.m., and July 23rd and 24th at 7:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army at 800 McCallie Ave.
This production is part of the Salvation Army’s ReCreate Café, a program that seeks to bridge the gap between the homeless and the local artistic communities. The production will cast actors from the homeless and housed Chattanooga community.
Several UTC professors and students are volunteering their services for the production. Steve Ray, Assistant Professor of Theatre and Speech, is the production’s music director.
“The University has been focused on community outreach in the past few years, and our department also has been encouraging students and faculty to be really active in the community. Several of us have previously worked with the Salvation Army on other projects. It’s part of the department’s mission to be at service for the community,” he said.
Purchase tickets at The Salvation Army Area Command at 822 McCallie Ave during office hours, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and online at http://csarmy.org/popup_120619.asp for $10 for adults, $8 for senior adults (65+) and students.
