The University went back to the ’90s for this year’s Homecoming theme, “Noogalodeon!” Students enjoyed classic events such as Field Games, Lip Sync, and Step Show. The week led up to the football game against SoCon rivals Appalachian State. The Mocs fell to
Festivities began with a kick-off pep rally on Monday, September 17, in the University Center. Attendees enjoyed 90s themed cupcakes and juice, and performances from the UTC Marching Band and spirit teams.

The annual Campus Activity Board (CAB) Lip Sync competition on Tuesday, September 18 had students from a variety of organizations “singing” and dancing the night away to songs from top 90s artists including, TLC, C&C Music Factory, Guns & Roses, and N’sync. Chi Omega won for best sorority, Lambda Chi Alpha for best fraternity, and the Residence Hall Association (RHA) for best organization.

Field Games provided entertainment and friendly competition between student organizations this year. Students competed in bed races, trout jousts, tug-of-wars, and relays. As a nod to the 90s theme, the relay ended with students getting “slimed!”

One of the most anticipated events of Homecoming, Step Show, had students from a variety of organizations competing for first, second, and third place. Residence Hall Association (RHA) won first for organizations. First place for fraternities went to Kappa Sigma, second place to Phi Beta Sigma, and third place to Alpha Phi Alpha. For sororities, Sigma Kappa took home first place, Kappa Delta was second place, and Delta Zeta and Chi Omega tied for third place.

Homecoming Court was announced earlier in the week. The candidates for Homecoming Queen were Caroline Dale, Chatrice Barnes, BayLee Long, Kaila Warren, and Dacey Winkleman. The candidates for Top Moc were Terrence Banks, Bradley Bell, Justin Huggins, Colton Sadler, and Matt Wayne.

After students casts their votes, Dacey Winkleman was crowned Homecoming Queen and Bradley Bell was named Top Moc.
The Mocs took on SoCon rivals Appalachian State for the Homecoming Game. After heading into the half with a 10-10 tie, the Mocs fell to the Mountaineers 34-17. Read more about the game at the Chattanooga Athletics website.
