Enjoy a variety of performances by The UTC Department of Music during the month of November.
UTC Opera Theater, directed by Perry Ward, will present “An Evening of One-Acts” including Giovanni Pergolesi’s La Serva Padrona, Mozart’s The Impressario and Ned Rorem’s Fables on November 2 and 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the UTC Fine Arts Center, Roland Hayes Concert Hall, 752 Vine St., Chattanooga. On Sunday, November 4, the UTC music department will host guest artist Lynn Rice-See. Her piano performance will be held in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall, located in the UTC Fine Arts Building and will begin at 3 p.m. Admission is free.
“Basque Composers from Spain and France” will feature guest artist Oskar Espina-Ruiz in a clarinet performance on Wednesday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall. Admission is free.
For jazz music lovers, Dr. Erika Schafer, Assistant Director of Bands, will direct the Jazz Band on Friday, November 16, 7:30 p.m. in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall, located in the UTC Fine Arts Building. Admission is free.
Dr. Monte Coulter will direct the Percussion Ensemble in the annual “Beat Hunger” performance. Performances will be held Sunday, November 18, and Monday, November 19, at the Roland Hayes Concert Hall, located in the UTC Fine Arts Building. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. on both nights. Admission is a food item that will be donated to Community Kitchen. Seating is limited and early arrival is recommended.
On Tuesday, November 27, there will be a choral ensemble to showcase the talents of some of UTC’s talented singers. The Women’s Chorale will be directed by Dr. Lee Harris, head of the UTC music department, and the Men’s Chorus will be directed by Dr. Roland Carter, instructor for applied piano. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and will be at Patten Chapel. Admission is free.
