Backstage with Louis Armstrong is set in Grand Forks, North Dakota, in 1957. Armstrong, at home when he was in his dressing room, would go there after a show and be greeted by adoring fans and dignitaries from all walks of life. Some came out of curiosity, some to borrow money to pay a bill, and others to bathe in his magnetic personality.
Explore this defining period in the life of the legendary jazz artist who rose to fame from abject poverty and faced racial struggles, jealousy and heartbreak.
