Today we went back to Oswiecim (Auschwitz). We went to a Franciscan Monastery. There was an exhibit there from a Christian Holocaust survivor who never talked about his experiences, until fifteen years before his death. He had a stroke and realized he needed to share what he had experienced during his five-year period in the multiple Concentration Camps. However, he did it in a different way. He painted pictures of all of his experiences and how we saw it. This was an absolutely earth shattering experience. The pictures are so depressing and emphasize the evil truth of the prisoners in these camps, whether they were Jewish or non-Jewish. Later in the day we went to the International Youth Meeting Center that is in Auschwitz (keep in mind that Auschwitz is the name of a city, not just a concentration camp) and met other foreign people who are studying the Holocaust very in depth. We then proceeded to take a tour of the downtown part of Oswiecim (Auschwitz). Today was a more laid back day.

It is good your generation is learning all about this horrific time in our history so that you and the ones who come after you will never let it happen again.
