Following the UTC chapter of Sigma Xi’s recognition of outstanding graduate students in science on Wednesday, April 9, at 4 p.m. in the Ocoee Room of the UTC University Center, Dr. Dawn Ford will present “Demographic and Geographic Characteristics of Childhood Lead Poisoning in Tennessee.”
Childhood lead poisoning can cause serious health effects in children—in the United States it is a public health concern, according to Ford’s abstract.
“In this presentation, the descriptive and demographic characteristics of childhood lead poisoning for 2009-20013 in Tennessee will be described. Geographic Information System (GIS) hot spot analysis results will also be presented, with a focus on the location of statistically significant clusters of childhood lead poisoning cases in the state.”
