A group of energetic UTC students rolled up their sleeves and helped beautify the city of Chattanooga recently. UTC Student Government Association (SGA) representatives and a group of Health and Human Performance majors worked as part of the city’s annual Clean and Green program.
River City partnered and a host of partners organized the fourth annual Clean and Green program. Sponsored by Volkswagen Chattanooga, Downtown Rotary and Rotaract Clubs, the event brought individuals, groups, and civic organizations together to make improvements.
SGA students painted unsightly walls covered in graffiti. Health and Human Performance students collected trash on Martin Luther King Boulevard. Their efforts, along with more than 500 additional volunteers, made a difference.
“It’s great to see UTC students take an interest in cleaning up Chattanooga. They could have slept in on that chilly day, but they didn’t. They gave their time to do something positive, to be good citizens,” said Chuck Cantrell, Associate Vice Chancellor of Marketing and Communication.

I can’t wait to attend a college that helps their community! Projects like that makes everyone appreciate what is around them more and more as they do them.
