College of Business (COB) students had the opportunity to munch free food, gather up giveaways, explore what the COB has to offer, and soak a COB faculty member at the second annual Down with the Dean event.
“This event is a chance for students to interact with faculty and staff in a different kind of setting. It’s also really great exposure for a lot of the College of Business organizations. And there’s free food!” said AJ Davis, a senior marketing major.
The event welcomed students, both current business majors and interested inquirers. There were games and prizes, a cotton candy machine, popcorn, and the dunking booth that gives the event its name.
Students also had the chance to chat with faculty, College of Business Student Success Center staff, and members of a variety of the student organizations to learn more about what the College has to offer.
“It’s a great opportunity that helps students find organizations to join earlier in their academic career,” said Luke Deitz, a senior marketing major. “I didn’t join the American Marketing Association until I was a senior, but this gives students a chance to explore their options earlier.”
Dr. Robert Dooley, Dean of the College of Business, wasn’t the only one to get wet this year. Joining him in the fun were Irene Hillman, Manager of Career Services in the COB; Cindy White; and Dr. Ashish Gupta.
“I enjoyed the day. An event like this gets people out, it’s entertaining,” said Tim McNamara, senior finance major. “The faculty has more fun than I thought. It’s good to see them get out of their shells a little.”
