Four economics students under the direction of Dr. Leila Pratt presented their independent research papers as part of the Academy of Economics and Finance’s Undergraduate Student Paper Competition at the Academy of Economics and Finance (AEF) Conference in Jacksonville, Florida.
Three of the students, Tim Barczak, Kristan Cartwright, and Lisa Wheatley, are economics majors and one student, Kaleb Tilton, is an economics minor. The UTC students were among only 21 undergraduate students who were selected to present at the conference.
Students presented: “Movie Box Office Success as a Result of Online Crowd-sourced Ratings” by Tim Barczak; “Complete College America: Will it Really Work?” by Kristan Cartwright; “Factors Determining the Salary of an NFL Running Back” by Kaleb Tilton; and “Factors Affecting Child Mortality” by Lisa Wheatley.
The papers began as the students’ final projects in Pratt’s Econometrics course in spring 2014 and were developed further for presentation at the AEF conference.
