A group of UTC students enrolled in a history course, The Holocaust: Perpetrators, Victims, and Bystanders, will take a Holocaust study tour in Poland and Germany during UTC’s spring break.
Led by Dr. John Swanson, head of the Department of History, the group will hear lectures, engage in discussions, and visit Holocaust-related sites, as well as participate in cultural activities in Berlin and Cracow.
During the trip, one of the students, Communication major Taralyn Wiley, will share her experiences on a blog with daily updates, beginning Monday, March 9.
Wiley, a Red Bank High School graduate, is among fourteen students and two faculty members who will experience the Holocaust study tour.
“In high school, I learned about the Holocaust,” Wiley explained. “In high school, they don’t tell you everything. I’ve always been interested in the Holocaust and I’ve always wanted to go to Europe, so I’m looking forward to this trip.”
Wiley is required to keep a journal on the trip, so she decided to publish what she writes.
Check the Holocaust Study Tour Blog for updates during the trip.
